Get Started with EverSoil

EverSoil certifies outcomes, not promises: an upward soil-health trend on the land your cattle graze, and lab-tested beef from that land. Getting started takes one email. Your first-year baseline work may be funded, and you do not have to commit to certification to begin.

How to get started

Step What happens
1. Tell us about your operation Email info@eversoil.org with your ranch name, state, acres and herd size. We will send a short questionnaire. "Unknown" is an acceptable answer.
2. Check your funding fit A 10-minute enrollment inquiry with SnapLands, our land monitoring partner, using your FSA producer information. This tells you what costs may be covered before you commit to any work.
3. Enrolled: your baseline SnapLands completes a Land EKG assessment of your land, and your animals get their first nutrient-density and toxin tests. A baseline is a starting point, not a pass or fail grade. No consumer-facing claim yet.
4. Transitioning Annual land assessments track whether your soil-health trend is moving up, with per-lot testing in place.
5. EverSoil Certified A verified upward soil-health trend, plus published contaminant test results and a documented nutrient profile for each lot that carries the EverSoil label.

Your results and ranch records stay confidential to EverSoil and its testing partners. Nothing is published or shared without your written approval.

How verification follows your beef

EverSoil certification connects three things: your operation, the land that supports your livestock, and the finished food. SnapLands provides the land-health monitoring through Land EKG. Independent laboratories test the beef. EverSoil brings the results together into the certification and a scorecard buyers can see.

Stage What is checked Why it matters to your buyers
Your enrollment Your baseline: land, forage, livestock management and first beef tests. Your beef is tied to an identified operation with a documented record.
Land EKG monitoring Ground-based land-health indicators, measured the same way each time, with quality checks. Your land story rests on measured conditions and trends, not a grazing claim alone.
Independent food testing Nutrient composition and specified contaminants, tested directly in the beef. Panels vary by harvest. Nutrient statements stay tied to the product that was actually tested.
EverSoil certification Land and product results are assembled into your scorecard. Annual monitoring keeps the certification current. Buyers see producer, land and food evidence together, down to a QR code on the package.

What Land EKG gives you as a producer

  • Better grazing decisions. Field evidence on your land and forage helps you plan grazing, protect production and manage costs.
  • A record that follows your land. Repeatable monitoring tracks how conditions change over time on your operation.
  • Audit-ready evidence. Documented observations and quality checks support buyer reviews and certification.

According to SnapLands, Land EKG methods began in Ten Sleep, Wyoming in 1994 and have been applied on working lands internationally for more than 30 years.

How your first year can be funded

SnapLands funding opportunity. SnapLands is an approved provider for a limited-time funding opportunity for qualifying beef and bison producers. It may include a $3,000 producer application payment plus funding for approved SnapLands services, including:

  • Land-health monitoring and ground-truth documentation (Land EKG)
  • Prescribed grazing planning and documentation
  • Regenerative verification and certification readiness
  • Ecological condition and trend reporting

Once your scope of work and quote are approved, funds are paid to you and used only for approved SnapLands services. Funding is not guaranteed: it depends on eligibility, approval and available program dollars, and funds used for anything other than the approved work may have to be repaid. Dollars are limited and time-sensitive, so it pays to ask early.

Who is most likely to qualify: operations whose enrolled land is tied to FSA farm, tract and field records, NRCS Practice 528 (prescribed grazing), or an FSA Producer Subsidiary Print.

Next step: email sales@snaplands.com to start the 10-minute enrollment inquiry, or email us and we will make the introduction.

USDA FSA route. Some producers may also be able to cover certification costs through a USDA FSA Climate-Smart Commodities legacy grant, for which EverSoil and SnapLands are pre-approved as qualifying certifications. You will need an FSA farm number. Ask us and we will help you work out which route fits.

Common questions

Do I have to commit to certification to get a baseline?
No. The baseline tells you where your land and your beef stand today. Whether you go on to certify is your decision.
What information do I need to share up front?
Only the basics needed to check fit, such as your FSA producer, business, farm and tract information. Detailed ranch records are not needed at this stage.
Are the funds guaranteed?
No. Funding depends on eligibility, approval and available program dollars. The enrollment inquiry is how you find out before committing.
Who sees my ranch data?
Only EverSoil and its testing and monitoring partners, and only the minimum needed for qualification and funding review. Nothing is published or shared without your written approval.
Who is SnapLands?
SnapLands is EverSoil's land monitoring and verification partner. It runs the Land EKG assessments that measure soil-health trends on enrolled land.
Will my beef get the same results as Carter Ranch?
Not automatically. Carter Ranch's published results belong to Carter Ranch's tested samples. Every producer's scorecard is built from their own land record and their own lab results.
