Soil Accreditation Standards

The land side of EverSoil certification measures whether the soil under a ranch is getting healthier, using independent field monitoring rather than producer affidavits. If you can measure it, you can trust it.

Who measures

SnapLands, EverSoil's land monitoring partner, through Land EKG assessments. According to SnapLands, Land EKG methods began in Ten Sleep, Wyoming in 1994 and have been applied on working lands for more than 30 years.

What is measured

Area What it shows
Ground cover The leading indicator of soil health, water retention, erosion resistance and forage resilience
Chemical inputs Reductions in synthetic fertilizer, herbicide and pesticide use
Grazing management Rotations, rest periods and stocking density, including virtual-fencing collar data where a ranch uses it
Soil-health trend Repeat measurements at the same points, the same way, year over year

How it's assessed

Each ranch starts with a baseline, a starting point rather than a grade, and is reassessed every year. Certification follows an upward trend. Monitoring data belongs to the producer and is shared only with their written approval.
